Association For Alternative Development (AFAD) RK Road Khaliulgnaj Kurigram Short Overview of the Programme This is a Sub-district (Upazila) Level Coordination Meeting under the project titled “Empower Women for Climate-Resilient Societies (Phase-2)”. • Date & Venue: June 02, 2025 | Upazila Parishad Hall Room, Kurigram • Organized by: Assocition For Alternative Development(AFAD) • Supported by: UN Women & Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) Objectives: 1. Strengthen women’s leadership and capacity in addressing climate change risks. 2. Enhance coordination among local government, administration, law enforcement, and civil society. 3. Identify actions to ensure women’s participation in climate-responsive planning and budgeting. Participants Included: • Officials from Upazila Parishad and administration • Local police officers • Union Parishad chairpersons and members • Local women leaders • Representatives from civil society organizations Key Discussion Points: • Women-centered disaster preparedness and climate adaptation strategies • Support for climate-resilient alternative livelihoods for women • Development of joint action plans to ensure accountability and gender-responsive budgeting at the local level The meeting aimed to review progress under Phase-2 of the project and gather inputs from stakeholders for effective implementation of future activities.
