Strengthening the Organisational Capacity of Women-Led Organisations for Championing Women’s Rights (SWOCCHAR)

The SWOCCHAR project aims to strengthen women’s economic rights and empowerment through the transformative role of women led organizations (WLOs). This will be achieved through three interlinked pillars: First, by providing small grant schemes and capacity development support to WLOs to strengthen their institutional and technical capacities including lobbying and advocacy capacity to influence national agendas and policies. Secondly, the project will also provide small innovation funds to Youth-Women Led Organisation (YWLO) to deliver gender-responsive, inclusive, and innovative campaign initiatives to change public perceptions and challenge social norms that constraint women’s access to economic opportunities. The recipients of the grant will also receive capacity development support to design, plan and implement their campaign initiatives and lastly, by providing technical support and resources to facilitate strategic and effective advocacy campaigns at the national level to influence changes needed to advance gender equality and women’s economic empowerment. The project interventions are aligned with and will contribute to achieve (1) the gender objectives of the 8th Five-Year Plan (2020-2025) of the Bangladesh government and (2) the fifth sustainable development goal (SDG) of gender equality and women’s empowerment.
